It’s extremely gratifying when a successful interiors shoot leads to much more regular work with a client; even more so when that client allows you a great deal of creative freedom and enables you to meet some of the most inspiring people in the UK as part of your work. This is the case with the Teenage Cancer Trust, who asked me to photograph their newly refurbished ward in Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital, and have subsequently asked me back to work with them in Glasgow, Birmingham, Nottingham, and most recently at the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon. Lakes break
I love the Lake District, almost as much as I love Iceland. The weather is just as unpredictable, with the result that there is potential for wonderful light, which feels extra special if you’ve had to wait days for it. When I last went, in October, I was spoiled by pretty much perfect conditions the whole time, but this week just gone I had to wait almost a whole week between finding a beautiful location for a classic Lakeland image and actually getting the photo I wanted.

Spreading the love
Last year, The Guild of Photographers asked me if I’d like to come along with them on a photo tour of Iceland. I don’t need to tell you my response. Acting as a combination of participant and Iceland ‘expert’ (I hesitate to use that term as I know there is so much I still have to learn about the country) I flew to my second home on 10th March and spent 8 amazing days with a lovely group of photographers and our brilliant guide, Siggi.
Brutal Watford
Brutalism divides opinions. Many of our best brutalist buildings have been, or are threatened with being demolished. Yet nothing is being built these days that is quite like this bold, geometric, concrete, future-facing architecture. It can be found in many, if not most town and city centres, and every building is pretty much unique.
