Guild Qualified

I recently submitted a portfolio of images to the Guild of Photographers for adjudication with the aim of receiving an official qualification from the Guild. My submission was successful, and as the work I submitted was commercial, rather than weddings or portraits, I’m putting my brief and the chosen images here to help anyone else looking to select images for a Guild professional qualification (QGPP). Trust worthy

More work for the Teenage Cancer Trust, from a recent shoot at Bristol Children’s Hospital. The brief was for some candid shots of some of the young people the Trust have helped, as well as some staff portraits. Definitely one of my favourite clients, and with this work I feel like my photography, which features now on a lot of the Trust’s publicity material, is in its own small way helping to make a difference to people’s lives. Mammút at Airwaves 2016

As with Rökkurró in 2014, I followed Icelandic band Mammút around for Airwaves in 2016. Starting with a headline set at the Reykjavík Art Museum and ending by opening for PJ Harvey at the enormous Valshöllin, they turned a lot of heads at Airwaves this year with a brand new set of tracks from their forthcoming, as yet untitled, album. North of the border

I’m rather fond of Scotland. I don’t go there nearly as much as I ought to, mainly because it’s such a hike, but every time I’ve been I’ve discovered something new. Whether it’s the tranquility of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, the stark beauty of Glencoe or the nordic history and diverse bird life of Shetland, it’s got pretty much everything. Geocaching GO

I’ve been playing Pokemon Go on and off for a few weeks now, mainly curious to see how it works, what the attraction is, and in the main, I’ve been enjoying it, though I feel the novelty might be wearing off a bit now. It does appear to have had some unexpected side effects, though – it’s got people out of the house who wouldn’t normally dream of it, it’s got young people so active that they are experiencing Pokemon Legs (i.e. aching muscles from so much exercise), and it has – inevitably – brought about new relationships.
