I had another shoot with some Icelandic people based in London for my Icelanders in London project on Saturday – you can see the stories of Rannveig and Clara, as well as all the other Icelanders who have been involved so far, over at the project website.
If you’re reading this, and you are Icelandic and live in London, please get in touch if you’d like to be involved.
An acronym from my former life working in finance there for you: Year to Date. Anyway, for no reason other than I want to (and it’s my blog, so why not?) here, in no particular order, is a selection of photos from my year so far. It’s been a good year; mostly interiors but with some variety, as well as the start of my personal project, Icelanders in London.
Prints of some of my images are available at nickminers.com/prints. Â Proceeds from the prints you buy go towards helping me pursue my personal projects. Thank you, and enjoy!
Yesterday I went into London to photograph ElÃn and Bragi, an Icelandic couple who had recently been married on a tour of India and Thaliand before returning to London. I met ElÃn before they left, and they were both very keen to be involved in the Icelanders in London project, and so I have added their photos to the project website which you can see here and here.
My assistant for the shoot, Caitlin (who is also a photographer, and a good one too…), took a sneaky photo of me with the Icelanders as we discussed where to take some of the photos:
Niccolò Scelfo is a photographer from Florence in Italy who visited Iceland on a road trip in 2012. As so often happens, he fell in love with the place and had soon found himself a house in ReykjavÃk from where he runs his new web-based art magazine, ReykjavÃk Boulevard:
“I thought about building a platform for curious people, trying to share stories and discover the world through the eyes and projects of people. I started interviewing famous directors at the Reykjavik International Film Festival, then bands at Iceland Airwaves and many other stories came up. I realized the website and tried to release a magazine about that.”
Issue 00 was launched as a trial a few months ago and received a lot of positive feedback, and so after a lot of hard work and dedication by Niccolo and his small, mostly Italian editorial team, he has this morning launched issue 01 which you can read here. Featured in the current issue are the Icelandic singer Ãris, who played at the London launch of Iceland, Defrosted, several other Icelandic and international artists and musicians, and there’s a small feature on some London based photographer who is photographing Icelanders in London…
Go and have a look – it’s a beautifully put together magazine, and you might even learn a little more about yours truly!
