The Jezabels at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen

27th May 2011GalleriesAustralia, gig, Hoxton, Jezabels, London, music, UKnickminers

The Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen played host to Sydney quartet The Jezabels on 18th May, who are currently touring the UK and Europe to raise awareness of their own idiosyncratic sound this side of the planet. I went down with my camera to capture the foursome in action.

Team Me at The Lexington

17th May 2011Galleriesgig, ja ja ja, lexington, music, norway, team menickminers

Another gallery I have inexplicably failed to put on my site. Team Me are the latest thing from Norway and, if early press is to be believed, are set to become the next best thing from Scandinavia. Certainly going by their live show, this is easy to believe. Here are a few shots of this entertaining, vibrant and energetic collective from a Ja Ja Ja Nordic event at The Lexington in March.

The Lake District in spring

12th May 2011GalleriesCumbria, England, Lake District, landscapes, mountains, UKnickminers

I’m not really sure why it took me so long to get round to putting these up. I’ve already put a small number on Flickr, but this is the full set of photos from a visit to the Lake District, unquestionably my favourite part of England, in April. Included is a pic of me which I’ve put in for posterity – you’ll see why when you look at it.

Hjaltalín at The Slaughtered Lamb

10th March 2011GalleriesClerkenwell, England, gig, hjaltalin, Iceland, London, music, UKnickminers

The Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell is a very small, intimate venue where Hjaltalín, one of the most popular homegrown bands in Iceland, played a set at the start of their European tour. I went along to take some pictures, and also to enjoy what was a very well received and very entertaining performance. You can read my review at The 405.
