Bath and Bristol

I spent the weekend just gone in Bath with the family, where I also met a couple of friends who wanted to take some photos of this beautiful World Heritage listed city in the south west of England. On the Saturday evening we went into Bristol to visit Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge which spans the Avon Gorge at the western end of the city. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

The English Lakes

The Lake District in Cumbria is a region of mountains, valleys and lakes in the north west of England, and is one of the most beautiful spots in the country. Mark Casey and I visited the region for a week with our cameras to capture the height of autumn in all its glory, after first scaling the second highest mountain in England, Helvellyn, via the famous, treacherous Striding Edge.

Thames Barrier

It’s been a while since I got my camera out, so I decided to take it in to work with me today. I was initially planning to visit Borough Market again, but I decided instead to head down to the Thames Barrier in East London after work. I got there just before sunset, so all these pictures were taken at ISO 1600 or 3200, as I was travelling light and didn’t have my tripod with me.
