Very near to where I live is a dis­used branch line that was closed down about 10 years ago. It’s still pos­sible to walk along the tracks of this old rail­way and see how quickly nature is tak­ing over where man used to hold sway. Here’s a set of pho­tos I took dur­ing a walk there this afternoon.

Corn­wall is England’s most west­erly county, and St Just its most west­erly main­land town. This year my fam­ily and I vis­ited the his­tor­ical tin and cop­per min­ing area around St Just with some friends, and spent time explor­ing some of the aston­ish­ing coast­line with its wild open moor­land, fer­tile val­leys and aban­doned min­ing build­ings. And, of course, that sea.

Bath and Bristol

I spent the week­end just gone in Bath with the fam­ily, where I also met a couple of friends who wanted to take some pho­tos of this beau­ti­ful World Her­it­age lis­ted city in the south west of Eng­land. On the Sat­urday even­ing we went into Bris­tol to visit Brunel’s fam­ous Clifton Sus­pen­sion Bridge which spans the Avon Gorge at the west­ern end of the city.
